Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager to lead all store operations, from receiving to stocking and merchandising, while driving sales and customer satisfaction in a fast-paced retail environment.

You will hire, train, coach and schedule staff, manage inventory and cash controls, ensure safety compliance, and uphold company policies to deliver a clean, well-organized store. Excellent communication with customers and team is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Bilingual Spanish speakers may be preferred at some locations.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees per laws and policies; ensure store is properly staffed.
• Provide training and conduct performance evaluations; identify gaps for solutions or counseling.
• Make recommendations regarding employee pay rate and advancement.
• Communicate performance, conduct and safety expectations regularly; coordinate meetings and events to encourage safety and policies.
• Open and close the store as required; physically open/close at least two times per week.
• Evaluate operating statements to identify business trends and opportunities.
• Review ordering plans and inventory management issues weekly; follow up on stock replenishment.
• Facilitate efficient staging, stocking and storage of merchandise per company processes.
• Ensure merchandise presentation, pricing and signage comply with standards.
• Maintain accurate inventory and cash control; manage damages and shrink.
• Provide superior customer service leadership; maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Ensure proper tools and equipment are available to perform tasks; follow SOPs and deadlines.
