Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in daily operations, staffing, inventory, merchandising, and store needs. This role helps develop external candidates for the Store Manager position and is for a limited period.

The candidate will assist in recruiting, merchandising, inventory control, and cashier accountability while ensuring a safe, well-stocked store environment and adherence to policies. Travel to nearby stores may be required.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, and procedures manuals.
• Perform basic math including percentages.
• Know cash handling, cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Learn IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Understand inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Know store safety and cash control policies and procedures.
• Preference for bilingual Spanish speakers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and pricing according to guidelines.
• Assist in inventory management, damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures.
• Participate in opening/closing procedures and bank deposits.
• Support store financial integrity and cash controls.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked store environments.
• Operate store in the manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete all required paperwork on time.
