Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager with daily store operations, staffing, inventory, merchandising, and customer service leadership. This role is intended to develop internal candidates for a Store Manager position and is time-limited.

The position requires compliance with company policies, safety practices, and accurate cash handling, with responsibilities including opening/closing, banking, and reporting. Travel to other stores may be required.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and cashier accountability.
• Ability to learn IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising, staging, stocking, and pricing of merchandise.
• Assist in inventory management, damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide customer service leadership and act as a role model for policies and procedures.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities and bank deposits.
• Ensure cash controls and security practices are followed.
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked store and safe environment.
• Operate store in the manager's absence and review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on time.
