Job summary

Dollar General Store is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in supervising staff, merchandising, inventory control, and store operations. This role targets developing external candidates for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

The incumbent will assist in recruiting, stocking, in-stock targets, and ensuring cashier accountability and store security while maintaining a clean, safe environment. Some travel and weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of retail experience preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Ability to learn store systems including IBM cash registers and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and stocking per established practices.
• Help manage inventory, damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide customer service leadership.
• Participate in opening and closing activities.
• Ensure cash control and security practices.
• Maintain clean, safe store environment.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
