Job summary

Dollar General in Ohio is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in staffing, inventory control, merchandising, and daily store operations. This role is designed to develop an external candidate for the Store Manager position for a defined period.

You will assist in recruiting, oversee staging and pricing, manage inventories, ensure in-stock targets, and uphold cash controls and safety policies while providing strong customer service leadership and preparation for store

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to read and interpret documents and safety rules.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and prepare inventories.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Act as a role model by following company procedures and policies.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure the safe deposit of all company funds in the designated bank.
• Assist in ensuring the financial integrity of the store through cashier accountability and cash control procedures.
• Assist in maintenance of clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Operate store in store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
