Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager in staffing, inventory control, and merchandising. The role emphasizes developing external candidates for future store leadership and maintaining strong cashier accountability and store security.

The position entails supervising employees, helping with opening/closing duties, and ensuring compliance with company policies. This store-centered role offers growth into our management track.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• 1 year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to supervise employees and manage store operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by facilitating and/or participating in staging, stocking and storage of merchandise; ensure proper presentation and pricing.
• Assist in inventory management and prepare inventories.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Operate store in store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends (sales, labor, profitability, inventory turnover) and control opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
