Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in executing store processes, staffing, inventory management, stocking, and receiving. This role focuses on developing external candidates for future Store Manager positions and is time-limited.

The position involves assisting in recruiting, merchandising, inventory controls, cashier accountability, and ensuring the daily operations run smoothly in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents including diagrams, safety rules, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies (deposits, keys, SAFE and STARS programs).
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices including legal compliance.
• Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Some locations may prefer bilingual Spanish speakers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and stock organization per manager direction.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and reporting.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Model company procedures and policies.
• Participate in opening/closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of company funds and cash control.
