Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in implementing store processes, supervising staff, and managing inventory and merchandising. This role develops external candidates for the Store Manager position and is limited in duration.

The candidate will assist in recruitment, merchandising, inventory controls, cash handling, and daily store operations while upholding company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret operating procedures and safety rules.
• Mathematical aptitude for basic calculations and percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including deposits and cashier accountability.
• Familiarity with IBM cash register functions and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with merchandising and stocking to company standards.
• Oversee inventory management, damages, markdowns, and receipts.
• Follow ordering practices to maintain in-stock targets.
• Provide customer service leadership and store support.
• Act as a role model by following all company policies.
• Participate in store opening/closing activities.
• Ensure secure handling of company funds and deposits.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked, safe store environment.
• Operate store in the manager's absence.
• Review store operating statements for trends and efficiency.
• Complete all required paperwork on time.
