Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in supervising employees, stocking, inventory, and store operations, with a focus on developing external candidates for the Store Manager role for a limited period.

You will participate in recruiting, merchandising, inventory control, cash handling, opening/closing, safety, and reporting, while upholding company procedures and delivering strong customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• Two or more years of experience in a leadership or managerial position.
• Two or more years of experience in a retail grocery store strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices including legal compliance and internal processes.

Responsibilities

• Assists in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assists with store merchandising by facilitating and/or participating in staging, stocking and storage of merchandise.
• Assists in all aspects of inventory management (including proper execution of damages, markdowns, register scanning, paperwork and facility controls).
• Follows prescribed ordering practices to ensure in-stock targets.
• Provides superior customer service leadership.
• Acts as a role model by following Company procedures and policies.
• Participates in store opening and closing activities.
• Assists in ensuring the financial integrity of the store through cash control procedures.
• Maintains clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment for customers and employees.
• Operates store in store manager's absence.
• Reviews operating statements to identify business trends and opportunities.
• Completes all paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
