Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in achieving store operations, staffing, inventory, merchandising, and customer service excellence. This role focuses on developing external candidates for the Store Manager path and will be held for a limited period.

You will assist in recruiting, merchandising, inventory control, cash handling, opening and closing, and ensuring compliance with company policies.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Perform basic math including percentages for pricing and inventory
• Know cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposits
• Learn and perform IBM cash register functions and generate reports
• Understand inventory management and merchandising practices
• Know cash, safety and store access policies and procedures (deposits, keys, safety programs)
• Recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and termination practices including legal compliance

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and staging, pricing, and shelf presentation.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and daily cycles.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership and problem solving.
• Open and close store operations and ensure funds are deposited securely.
• Maintain cash controls, cashier accountability, and safety policies.
• Keep store clean, well-stocked, and safe for customers and employees.
• Support store operations in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
