Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager in supervising staff, stocking, inventory, and store operations. This role focuses on developing external candidates for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

You will help with recruitment, merchandising, inventory accuracy, and cash controls while ensuring customer service excellence and adherence to company policies. Travel to other locations may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability.
• Ability to learn IBM cash register functions and generate reports.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and related paperwork.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Act as a role model by following company procedures and policies.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of all company funds in the designated bank.
• Maintain store security and cash controls.
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked store and safe environment.
• Operate store in store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on time.
