Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in staffing, inventory management, merchandising, and daily store operations. The role focuses on developing external candidates for the Store Manager position and will be held for a limited period.

You will assist in recruiting, stocking, cashier accountability, store security, and ensuring a safe, well-organized environment while preparing inventories and reporting store performance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• 1 year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to recruit, interview, hire, counsel and terminate practices including legal compliance.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and stocking according to established practices and manager direction.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and prepare inventories.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Open and close store activities and maintain cash controls.
• Ensure safe deposit of funds and financial integrity of the store.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Review operating statements for trends, expenses, and profitability.
• Complete paperwork and documentation on time.
