Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate in Watertown, SD to support the Store Manager in staffing, inventory, merchandising, and day-to-day operations. This role focuses on developing an external candidate for the Store Manager path and is limited in duration.

You will assist in recruiting, ensure proper stock levels, and lead customer service efforts while adhering to company policies and security practices.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
• Perform basic math calculations including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposits.
• Learn IBM cash register functions to generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies.
• Recruit, hire and train while ensuring legal compliance.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills and teamwork ability.
• Organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Some locations may prefer bilingual Spanish speakers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and staging and pricing.
• Assist in inventory management and related paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Model company policies and procedures.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of company funds and cash control.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Operate store in the manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on time.
