The Store Manager In Training (SMIT) job is a development-focused role crafted to prepare you for a CVS Store Manager position. The SMIT program enhances your career as a future store leader through a self-paced, collaborative training over 16 weeks, including virtual and hands-on learning experiences. Support for your development includes your District Leader, Human Resources Business Partner, Training Store Manager, and Store Manager coach.

Skills needed for this role include:

  • Effective verbal and written communication to support and lead your team
  • Customer care duties to provide high levels of service
  • Executing merchandising strategies to support store sales growth
  • Managing store inventory and assets to maintain profitability

Our expectations for SMITs are:

  • Engage actively with your leader during Key Learning Experiences to support your promotion path
  • Support your store as a management team member and lead in accordance with CVS values and policies
  • Engage colleagues to support the company's purpose of 'helping people on their path to better health.'
  • Willingness to accept promotion roles within the market
  • Ability to transfer to other CVS stores within the market
  • Flexibility to work schedules based on business needs

Minimum requirements include:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred) or relevant work experience in retail management or as a CVS Supervisor
