Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in implementing store processes, supervising staff, and managing inventory and receiving. This role focuses on developing internal candidates for future Store Manager positions for a limited period.

The position involves overseeing merchandising, cashier operations, and financial controls while ensuring a safe, well-stocked store. Strong leadership and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred or required.
• 2+ years in a leadership or managerial role in retail.
• 2+ years in a retail grocery setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assists with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise according to practices and directions.
• Manages inventory including damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork and facility controls; prepares inventories.
• Follows ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provides superior customer service leadership.
• Acts as a role model by following company procedures and policies.
• Participates in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensures the safe deposit of all company funds in the designated bank.
• Maintains cash controls and security practices.
• Maintains clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment for customers and employees.
• Operates store in the absence of the store manager.
• Reviews operating statements to identify trends and opportunities, expenses, shrink, and errors.
• Completes all paperwork and documentation per guidelines and deadlines.
