Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager in implementing store processes, supervising staff, inventory, stocking, receiving, and paperwork. This limited-term role develops external candidates for the Store Manager.

You will support merchandising, cash handling, opening/closing, and financial controls, while ensuring a safe, clean store and excellent customer service across all duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to recruit, hire and train staff.
• Knowledge of cash handling and deposits.
• Ability to perform basic math and read diagrams and procedures.
• Bilingual Spanish speakers may be preferred at some locations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and signage; stage, stock, and price merchandise.
• Oversee inventory management and stock control including damages and reporting.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Open and close store and ensure safe deposit of funds.
• Maintain cash control, key security, and audit readiness.
• Ensure clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Operate store in the store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends, profitability, and inventory turns.
