Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in implementing store processes, supervising employees, handling staffing, inventory, stocking and receiving, and managing store paperwork. This position is to be held for a limited period as an external candidate develops into the Store Manager role.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as percentages and basic arithmetic.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.

Responsibilities

• Assists in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assists with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise per established practices and manager direction.
• Assists in all aspects of inventory management including damages, markdowns, scans, paperwork and facility controls.
• Follows prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provides superior customer service leadership.
• Acts as a role model by following Company procedures and policies.
• Participates in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensures safe deposit of all Company funds in the designated bank.
• Maintains cash control and security practices.
• Maintains clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment for customers and employees.
• Operates store in manager’s absence.
• Reviews operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
