Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in supervising employees, staffing, inventory, stocking, and paperwork. This temporary role helps develop internal candidates for the Store Manager position.

Responsibilities include assisting with recruiting, merchandising, inventory controls, pricing, and store security. The role requires attention to detail, strong communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• Reading and interpreting diagrams, safety rules and procedures.
• Perform basic arithmetic including percentages.
• Cash handling procedures including deposits and cashier accountability.
• Learn IBM cash register functions to generate reports.
• Know inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Know cash, facility and safety control policies (deposits, keys, SAFE/STARS).

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and staging of merchandise.
• Assist in inventory management, damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide customer service leadership.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures.
• Participate in opening/closing.
• Ensure safe handling of funds and cash controls.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Operate store in manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete paperwork and documentation on time.
