Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in supervising employees, staffing, inventory, stocking, and paperwork. This role develops external candidates for the Store Manager track and is limited in duration.

The candidate will assist in recruiting, merchandising, inventory controls, and cashier/accountability. Includes opening/closing duties, bank deposits, and compliance with company policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn and perform IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Familiarity with deposits, keys, safety and store security programs.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise.
• Assist in inventory management including damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Operate store in store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on time.
