Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager with all store processes, including supervision, staffing, inventory, merchandising and customer service leadership. This role develops external candidates for the Store Manager track and is for a limited period.

The position requires strong cash handling, merchandising and operational skills, with travel between stores and participation in opening/closing duties as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and register operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and pricing according to policies.
• Support inventory management, audits, and paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Operate store in manager's absence and assist with opening/closing.
• Ensure cash accountability and bank deposits.
• Maintain clean, safe, well-stocked store environment.
• Analyze operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on schedule.
