Job summary

Dollar General Store Manager Candidate in the United States is responsible for supporting the Store Manager in staffing, merchandising, inventory, and daily store operations. This role helps develop external candidates for the Store Manager position and participates in opening/closing duties while upholding company policies and security practices.

The candidate supports cash control, reports, and customer service leadership, with emphasis on teamwork, accuracy, and adherence to safety standards

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred.
• Bilingual Spanish speakers may be preferred at certain locations.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and store security practices.
• Ability to recruit, hire, and train staff.
• Effective communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by facilitating staging, stocking and storage of merchandise and pricing.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and prepare inventories.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Act as a role model by following company procedures and policies.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of all company funds in the designated bank.
• Assist in ensuring financial integrity through cashier accountability and cash control procedures.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment.
• Operate store in store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork according to guidelines and deadlines.
