Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager with staffing, merchandising, inventory, and store operations. The role focuses on developing external candidates for future Store Manager positions, for a limited period, while maintaining store standards and customer service excellence.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, retail experience, strong cash handling and organizational skills, and the ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum education of high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Experience in retail helps when external candidates apply.
• Ability to read diagrams, safety rules, and operating instructions.
• Basic math calculations and percentages must be knowable.
• Cash handling procedures including deposits and accountability are familiar.
• Familiar with IBM cash register functions and report generation.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Awareness of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and stocking per manager direction.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management including damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Model company procedures and policies.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of all company funds to designated bank.
• Assist in financial integrity through cashier accountability and cash controls.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment.
• Operate store in store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends, expenses, and inventory turnover.
• Complete paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
