Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a Store Manager responsible for all aspects of store operations including staffing, merchandising, inventory control, customer service, and policy compliance.

You will recruit and train employees, conduct performance evaluations, manage open/close procedures, analyze sales trends, and ensure execution of daily tasks to meet in-stock targets and profitability, while maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming shopping environment.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Perform basic mathematical calculations including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposits.
• Ability to operate cash registers and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies.
• Good organization skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to solve problems and adapt to various situations.

Responsibilities

• Recruits, selects, and retains qualified employees according to federal and state labor laws and Company policies; ensure store is properly staffed.
• Provides proper training for employees; conducts performance evaluations; identifies gaps for appropriate solutions and/or counseling, up to and including termination.
• Makes recommendations regarding employee pay rate and advancement.
• Communicates performance, conduct and safety expectations regularly; coordinates meetings and events to encourage safety, security and policies.
• Ensures that the store is adequately staffed and effectively opened and closed each day.
• Evaluates operating statements to identify business trends (sales, profitability, and turn) and expense control opportunities.
• Orders to meet or exceed in-stock targets; reviews ordering plan and inventory management weekly.
• Facilitates efficient staging, stocking and storage of merchandise following company processes.
• Ensures merchandise is presented according to established practices; uses fixtures, pricing and signage.
• Maintains accurate inventory levels by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls.
• Ensures financial integrity through cashier accountability and cash control procedures.
• Provides superior customer service leadership.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and organized store environment.
• Ensures tools and equipment are available to perform tasks.
• Follows company policies and completes paperwork on time.
