Meijer Inc. in Detroit metro area is seeking an Assistant Store Director for the North Detroit Market to lead daily store operations, planograms, and staff development.

You will shape customer experience, coach leaders, and implement strategies that improve sales and profitability. The role requires a strong track record in retail leadership, exceptional communication, and a commitment to Meijer’s community values.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• 5+ years in retail/grocery/operations management or customer service.
• 4+ years of progressive leadership experience.
• Ability to lead and develop teams while delivering industry‑leading service.
• Proactive, creative thinker with strong communication skills.
• Strong merchandising understanding to meet customer needs and drive sales.
• Solid business acumen and decision‑making.
• Commitment to an inclusive, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee store operations across food and general merchandise areas.
• Manage planograms, seasonal resets, and endcaps within the store.
• Develop and coach talent; drive performance and succession planning.
• Communicate strategy and goals; align teams with Meijer values.
• Forecast staffing needs and recruit to meet forecasted demand.
• Ensure products are merchandised to maximize sales and profitability.
• Drive customer service excellence and resolve issues efficiently.
• Represent the community through partnerships and local outreach.
