Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager to lead all store processes, including staffing, inventory, presentation, and customer service. You will plan, implement, and supervise store operations to achieve targets while ensuring compliance with company policies and labor laws.

The role requires strong leadership, training, and financial control skills, with a focus on safety, inventory accuracy, and engaging customers in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Recruits, selects, and retains qualified employees according to federal and state labor laws and Company policies; ensure store is properly staffed.
• Provides proper training for employees; conducts performance evaluations; identifies gaps for appropriate solutions and/or counseling, up to and including termination.
• Makes recommendations regarding employee pay rate and advancement.
• Communicates performance, conduct and safety expectations regularly; coordinates meetings and events to encourage safety, security and policies.
• Ensures that the store is appropriately staffed and effectively opened and closed each day.
• Evaluates operating statements to identify business trends (sales, profitability, and turn) and expense control opportunities.
• Orders to meet or exceed in-stock targets and reviews ordering plan weekly.
• Facilitates staging, stocking and storage of merchandise following Company processes.
• Ensures merchandise is presented according to practices; uses fixtures, pricing and signage correctly.
• Maintains accurate inventory levels by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, and paperwork.
• Ensures financial integrity through cashier accountability, key control and cash procedures.
• Provides superior customer service leadership.
• Maintains a clean, well-organized store and a safe environment.
• Ensures store is equipped with tools needed to perform tasks.
• Follows SOPs and policies; completes paperwork on time.
