Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a store manager in the United States to oversee all store operations, staffing, and daily execution of processes from ordering to stocking and customer service. You will lead training, evaluations, and compliance with labor laws, while ensuring cash controls and security.

The role requires strong communication, staff development, and the ability to open/close the store as needed, with attention to safety and inventory accuracy in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and POS systems.
• Ability to recruit, hire, and train staff while complying with federal and state laws.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees according to labor laws and policies; ensure store is staffed.
• Provide training, conduct evaluations, and counsel or terminate as needed.
• Make recommendations regarding pay rate and advancement.
• Communicate performance and safety expectations; coordinate meetings and events.
• Ensure store is opened and closed properly each day.
• Open/close the store at least twice per week personally.
• Evaluate operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Order to meet in-stock targets and review inventory plans weekly.
• Facilitate staging, stocking and merchandising according to standards.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and cash control procedures.
• Provide superior customer service leadership and a safe shopping environment.
• Ensure tools and equipment are available; comply with SOPs.
