Job summary

Books-A-Million is seeking a General Manager to run daily store operations as a Manager On Duty, in partnership with the management team. The role focuses on maximizing sales and customer service while leading and training the store staff, ensuring security, and controlling expenses.

The GM will direct scheduling, recruit talent, coach teams, and maintain strong community relations to drive profits and customer satisfaction across the store portfolio.

Qualifications

• 21 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent, college degree preferred.
• Previous management experience.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Mature and conscientious demeanor.
• Ability to supervise a large number of associates.
• Strong decision-making, communication, and merchandising skills.
• Successful completion of required background screenings.

Responsibilities

• Maximizes profits and customer service by leading the store and adhering to company policies.
• Oversees store operations, plans, directs activities and directs staff development.
• Maintains store security and acts as a key-holding manager.
• Manages schedules to provide adequate coverage and communicates effectively with the team.
• Recruits, hires, coaches, trains, and develops management staff.
• Handles customer complaints to a satisfactory conclusion.
• Ensures efficient product flow and executes store initiatives.
