Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in all store processes including staffing, inventory, merchandising, and cashier controls, for a limited development period at our Quincy, IL location.

This role emphasizes hands-on leadership, customer service, and strict adherence to company policies, with opportunities to learn store operations, financial integrity, loss prevention, and team development alongside experienced managers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn and perform IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by facilitating staging, stocking and storage of merchandise; ensure presentation according to practices and manager direction.
• Assist in inventory management including damages, markdowns, scans, paperwork and controls; prepare inventories.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Act as a role model by following company procedures and policies.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of company funds in the designated bank.
• Assist in maintaining financial integrity through cashier accountability and cash control procedures.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment.
• Operate store in store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on time.
