Job summary

The Kroger Co. seeks a Department Manager to lead store operations and deliver a best-in-class customer experience. You will work with department heads and associates to execute merchandising and operating initiatives, ensuring safety and compliance in a fast-paced retail setting.

You will analyze performance data, develop action plans, coach teams, and collaborate with store leadership to meet sales and budget goals while supporting growth opportunities and community partnerships.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of experience as department manager, service manager, or equivalent.
• Experience in leading, coaching, and developing associates to achieve customer service and business goals.
• Proven ability to analyze KPIs, metrics, and data insights to drive decisions.
• Ability to collaborate across departments and influence others to improve store performance.

Responsibilities

• Assist store manager and associates to deliver excellent customer shopping experience.
• Lead merchandising and operating initiatives with department managers.
• Develop action plans from associate insights and survey results.
• Identify opportunities with store staff and implement timely solutions.
• Model exceptional customer service and resolve issues.
• Oversee total store operations in the manager's absence.
• Help meet weekly and yearly sales, wage, and profit budgets.
• Collaborate on budget planning and cost control.
• Engage with local community and build relationships with unions if applicable.
• Communicate necessary information to teams and manage staffing.
