Job summary

Dollar General Corporation seeks a store management professional to oversee all store processes including ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation and selling. You will recruit, train, evaluate, and counsel staff, ensure staffing levels, and drive safety and policy adherence.

Responsibilities include opening/closing, managing inventory, merchandising, cashier control, and delivering superior customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and manuals.
• Ability to perform basic math and percentages for reporting.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit control.
• Experience with cash register functions and reporting.
• Knowledge of inventory and merchandising practices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices (legal compliance).
• Awareness of store security and cash control procedures.
• Good organization and attention to detail.
• Ability to solve problems and handle various situations.

Responsibilities

• Recruits, selects, and retains qualified employees; ensures proper staffing.
• Provides training and conducts performance evaluations; counsels or terminates as needed.
• Makes recommendations on pay rates and advancement.
• Communicates expectations; coordinates safety and policy meetings.
• Manages opening/closing, staffing store operations multiple days per week.
• Evaluates operating statements for trends, expenses, shrink, and errors.
• Controls ordering and inventory planning; oversees stock replenishment.
• Facilitates staging, stocking, and storage of merchandise per company processes.
• Maintains visual merchandising, pricing, and signage.
• Maintains inventory accuracy by controlling damages, markdowns, paperwork, and controls.
• Ensures cashier accountability and security practices.
• Provides superior customer service leadership.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and organized store environment.
• Ensures proper tools and resources are available to perform tasks.
• Follows SOPs, handbook, and company communications; ensures compliance.
• Completes all paperwork and documentation on time.
