Job summary

MERS Missouri Goodwill is seeking a General Manager for the Cape Girardeau Store - Silver Spring team. The successful candidate will oversee store operations, budgets, and staff to meet goals while upholding our mission, Changing Lives Through the Power of Work.

You will lead a dynamic retail and logistics team, coach employees, and ensure excellent customer service. The role offers hourly full-time employment with a strong bonus plan and benefits, including medical, retirement, paid holidays,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Three years of Retail, Warehouse, or Logistics Management with a valid MO or IL driver's license and insurance.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including customer service, conflict resolution, and teamwork.
• Leadership skills including decision-making, goal-setting, and problem-solving, with the ability to motivate and lead employees and hold them accountable.
• Comfortable with workplace technology like registers, scheduling, and inventory management software.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing store operations, resources, and budgets to meet or exceed goals.
• Model core values to foster a safety-conscious, ethical, and quality-focused store culture.
• Supervise, direct, and train staff to perform essential functions.
• Provide superior internal and external customer service to retain donors, shoppers, and staff; de-escalate dissatisfaction quickly.
• Coach employees on performance, including discipline up to termination.
• Assign daily duties to achieve operational tasks and identify employees for advancement.
• Safeguard company property and report any theft or misconduct to management or HR.
• Read, follow, model, and enforce all agency policies and values.
• Arrange staffing and payroll approvals to ensure proper coverage; optimize staffing and efficiency.
• Eliminate wasteful practices through process improvements.
• Maintain a professional appearance per dress code.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
