Job summary

The Salvation Army's Oakland Main Store is seeking a dedicated Store Assistant Manager to lead daily retail operations in a fast-paced environment. The role offers a wage of $18.84 per hour with a 40-hour work week and eligibility for benefits.

Responsibilities include coaching staff, maintaining customer and donor relations, and ensuring adherence to ARC merchandising standards while supporting cash handling and loss prevention. Flexibility for varied shifts is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Minimum 2 years of retail management/supervisory experience.
• Able to operate POS/cash register and handle cash transactions.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
• Pass background check including criminal history and sex offender registry.
• Effective communication with management, staff, customers, and donors.

Responsibilities

• Take an active role with the Store Manager in daily store operations.
• Lead day-to-day operations in the Store Manager's absence.
• Coach, train, and develop store employees.
• Maintain strong customer/donor/community relations and resolve issues quickly.
• Communicate personnel issues to Management; may issue warnings and evaluations.
• Ensure ARC merchandising standards and adequate inventory; support Back Room Processing as needed.
• Maintain cash handling accuracy and safeguard cash and deposits.
