Job summary

UofL Health seeks a Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Technician to support the delivery of fully functional instrumentation to the OR and other areas in Louisville. You will help ensure instruments are properly decontaminated, sterilized, and dispatched with precision and speed.

Responsibilities include decontamination, prep and pack, sterilization, and timely dispatch, while maintaining compliance with AAMI, AORN, and CDC guidelines.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED (required).
• Experience: One (1) year of previous experience in a healthcare setting (preferred).
• Certification: Nationally recognized Sterile Processing certification within 12 months of hire date (required).
• Knowledge of safety and HIPAA guidelines is essential.

Responsibilities

• Answers telephone promptly and assists callers with items needed.
• Assembles supplies and places into case carts for procedures.
• Delivers sterile and non-sterile instrumentation and equipment to units as needed.
• Operates processing equipment and performs decontamination, prep and pack, sterilization, and dispatch duties.
• Maintains department organization, cleanliness, and stock levels while delivering quality service.
