Job summary

The Central Sterile Tech at University of California, Irvine Health is responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of supplies and equipment across the hospital and clinics. The role also handles charging, billing and logging of services for the OR and participates in performance improvement projects.

Candidates should have completed an accredited Sterile Processing program or have 18 months of relevant experience, maintain CRCST or CSPDT certification, and be able to

Qualifications

• Accredited Sterile Processing school or Surgical Technology program (or 18 months Sterile Processing experience).
• Knowledge of infectious control techniques and medical terminology.
• Current CRCST or CSPDT certification; maintain certification through CEUs and renewals.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, clean, process and sterilize supplies and equipment.
• Charge, billing and logging of service; record patient charges for the OR; perform daily biological testing.
• Participate in departmental and hospital-wide performance improvement projects.
