Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to decontaminate, assemble, inspect, wrap and sterilize surgical instruments for Surgical Services and related departments. The role supports the OR staff and maintains workflow between OR and Central Service Sterile Processing with strong customer service.

The position requires a high school diploma, completion of a Sterile Processing program preferred, and CRCST or CSPDT certification within 1 year.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Formal education through a Sterile Processing program preferred.
• Sterile Processing certification: CRCST or CSPDT within 1 year.
• No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Performs decontamination and assembling of basic surgical trays, individual instrumentation and equipment.
• Wraps or contains items appropriately according to size and type of instrument or equipment.
• Provides timely sterile products, trays and case carts in coordination with OR staff.
• Sterilizes instruments and trays following manufacturer instructions and institutional policies.
