Job summary

Houston Methodist in The Woodlands, TX seeks a Sr Sterile Processing Technician to maintain decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instruments for Surgical Services and ancillary departments. You will coordinate with OR staff to supply sterile products, trays, and case carts, ensuring workflow between OR and SPD and delivering excellent customer service.

The role requires certification (CRCST or CSPDT), a High School diploma, and at least two years of sterile processing

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of sterile processing experience.
• Sterile Processing certification: CRCST or CSPDT.
• Strong knowledge of sterilization techniques and inter-department relationships.

Responsibilities

• Perform decontamination and assembling of complex surgical trays and instruments using established count sheets.
• Sterilize instruments and trays following manufacturer instructions and hospital policies.
• Identify and prioritize sterile products based on the OR schedule and physician needs.
• Maintain consistent workflow between OR and Sterile Processing with excellent customer service.
• Follow Universal Precautions and wear protective attire in Decontamination area.
• Collaborate with interprofessional team to ensure patient safety and quality outcomes.
• Tend to department improvement activities and staff education.
