Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to clean, inspect and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment across our Illinois and Wisconsin facilities. The role requires attention to detail, ability to follow instructions, and teamwork to maintain safety and quality care.

Schedule: 40 hours per week, Day shift 9am-5:30pm with rotating weekend call shifts. Competitive benefits apply. Requires a high school diploma or GED and adherence to regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
• Commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards.

Responsibilities

• Disassembles, inspects and prepares instruments for decontamination following Universal Precautions and PPE.
• Loads and operates mechanical washers and ultrasonic cleaners; performs manual decontamination as needed.
• Inspects instruments for damage and tests for proper function and sharpness; assembles instrument sets.
• Prepares instruments for sterilization using aseptic technique and proper packaging.
• Loads and operates steam and hydrogen peroxide sterilizers; reviews indicators and logs results.
