Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to clean, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, sterilize, store, and distribute surgical instruments and equipment. The role supports patient safety and top‑notch service while joining a dynamic team in a hospital setting.

The position operates steam and hydrogen peroxide sterilizers, uses tracking software, and participates in instrument rounds across clinical departments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions accurately.
• Willingness to learn sterile processing procedures.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, inspect, and decontaminate instruments following PPE and universal precautions.
• Load and operate mechanical washers and ultrasonic cleaners; manually decontaminate and disinfect instruments.
• Inspect cleaned instruments for damage and test function and sharpness.
• Assemble instrument procedure sets and replace missing items to complete sets.
• Prepare instruments for sterilization using aseptic technique and proper packaging.
