Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Sterile Instrument Technician to clean, inspect, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment. You will stock supplies, deliver sterile items, and support clinical staff while following safety regulations.

The role involves tracking instrument usage and learning the SPM system, with a 40-hour weekly schedule and variable shifts. Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to follow both written and oral instructions accurately.
• Demonstrated problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.

Responsibilities

• Disassembles, inspects and prepares instruments for decontamination following PPE.
• Loads and operates washers and ultrasonic cleaners.
• Manually decontaminates and disinfects instruments as required.
• Assembles instrument sets according to tray lists and replaces missing items.
• Prepares instruments for sterilization using aseptic techniques and proper packaging.
