Job summary

OhioHealth in the United States is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician (Non-Certified) to decontaminate, clean and sterilize general and specialty instruments, power equipment and endoscopes. You will prepare instrumentation, monitor sterilization processes and support case readiness for operating rooms and external customers.

Qualifications

• Must exhibit strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work well with others as part of a team.
• Requires basic computer skills. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions, as well as perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Working knowledge of AAMI and AORN standards.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, disinfect and clean reusable surgical instruments, using mechanical or manual methods per OSHA standards.
• Demonstrate knowledge of sterilization processes for steam and chemical methods; document and monitor indicators.
• Enter, modify and search instrument data in the tracking system; prepare cases and retrieve instruments as needed.
• Incorporate infection control guidelines when handling sterile packages and supplies.
• Interact with vendors and surgical reps to process loaner trays and CEUs.
• Follow and promote AAMI/AORN industry standards and best practices.
• Demonstrate strong customer service while meeting requests from operating rooms and external clinics.
• Support education and training of peers; contribute to a high reliability organization with focus on safety, quality and efficiency.
