Job summary

OhioHealth in Columbus, OH is seeking a Certified Sterile Processing Technician to handle the decontamination, cleaning and sterilization of general and specialty surgical instruments, endoscopes and power equipment. Responsibilities include preparation and packaging, quality control testing, maintaining records and supporting operating rooms and external customers.

Minimum qualifications include an Associate’s Degree or high school diploma/GED and CBSPD and IAHCSMM certifications.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or high school diploma/GED required.
• CBSPD Certification and IAHCSMM Certification preferred/required.
• Experience with sterilization processes and infection control standards preferred.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, disinfect and clean various reusable surgical instruments.
• Operate and monitor sterilizers (steam and chemical) and ensure proper indicators are used.
• Enter, modify and locate instrument data in the tracking system.
• Prepare instruments for scheduled cases and assist with tray assembly.
• Follow infection control guidelines and handle instrument transfers safely.
• Assist with education and training of fellow staff and interact with vendors and clinics.
