Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks a Lead Sterile Processing Technician to coordinate decontamination, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments. You will supervise staff, ensure compliance with policies, and support equipment maintenance and inventory management.

Responsibilities include training personnel, monitoring QA standards, and assisting with staffing while maintaining high patient-care standards within a hospital SPD.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Expert knowledge of sterile technique, AAMI standards, and surgical instrumentation.
• Certified in Sterile Processing.

Responsibilities

• Oversee personnel in processing, decontaminating, sterilizing and delivering instruments.
• Assist in development of department policies and monitor adherence.
• Maintain quality assurance standards and logs for sterilizers and equipment.
• Interview, orient, train and evaluate Sterile Processing Technicians.
• Monitor inventory of surgical supplies and ensure proper storage.
• Coordinate repairs and condition of SPD equipment as needed.
• Review processing workflows and participate in equipment acquisitions.
