Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Central Service Supervisor to oversee sterile processing and instrument coordination in the operating room. You will direct staff, schedule work, and ensure high standards of sterilization and quality assurance.

You will manage inventory, collaborate with OR leadership on instrument repairs and procurement, and ensure compliance with Infection Control and OSHA standards. A CRCST pathway is required within 1 year, with a High School diploma and 5 years of supervisory

Qualifications

• High school graduate required.
• CRCST certification to be obtained within 1 year.
• Typically 5 years supervisory Central Service experience.
• Knowledge of inventory, asset management and quality assurance.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily work direction to staff including scheduling, assignments, coaching, discipline and performance evaluations.
• Coordinate instrumentation needs for all surgical procedures based on the schedule and identify conflicts.
• Manage sterile processing services to meet instrument needs and communicate with user departments.
• Serve as the liaison between Sterile Processing and OR staff to ensure effective communication and problem resolution.
• Maintain inventory to supply adequate surgical instrumentation sets for the OR.
• Collaborate with OR management to coordinate repair or purchase of instruments.
• Implement and monitor standards for sterilization and decontamination per Infection Control and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain knowledge of evolving sterilization technology and methods.
• Participate in budgeting and capital equipment recommendations within budget constraints.
• Oversee human resources responsibilities for staff, including performance reviews and personnel decisions.
