Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Dual Certification in Sterile Processing required.
• 3-5 years experience in sterile processing with comprehensive knowledge of operating room instruments and protocols.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate advanced knowledge and consistent application of sterilization standards and practices.
• Assume charge role and on-call duties, ensuring full accountability for assigned services.
• Precept and mentor Sterile Processing Technicians, facilitating ongoing education and compliance with policies.
• Stay current with surgical specialties, emerging technologies, and industry trends to inform staff development.
• Prioritize, organize, and coordinate daily workflow and technician assignments to optimize efficiency and meet customer demands.
• Maintain, audit, and analyze decontamination, sterilization, and equipment maintenance records; troubleshoot and report equipment malfunctions.
• Collaborate with OR leadership regarding equipment purchasing, inventory levels, and utilization.
• Model and uphold Baystate Health's core values: Trust, Respect, Integrity, Communication, and Collaboration.
• Apply critical thinking and sound judgment in problem-solving and escalating issues as appropriate.
• Effectively communicate operational updates and procedural changes to staff through multiple channels (verbal, written, electronic).
