Job summary

Baystate Medical Center in Springfield seeks an experienced Service Coordinator – Sterile Processing to lead night shift operations, mentor technicians, and uphold AAMI standards across decontamination, sterilization, and equipment maintenance.

This full‑time role requires 3–5 years in sterile processing, CRST or CSPT certifications with CER or CSIS preferred, and strong leadership, communication, and quality‑improvement skills to ensure safe, efficient patient care during nights.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in a Sterile Processing Department.
• Strong knowledge of operating room instrumentation and workflows.
• CRST (HSPA) or CSPT (CBSPD), CER (HSPA) or CSIS (CBSPD) certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate advanced knowledge and application of sterilization standards and sterile processing best practices.
• Maintain 100% competency of required skills across assigned service areas.
• Serve in the charge role and assume on‑call responsibilities as needed.
• Mentor and precept Sterile Processing Technicians (Levels I, II, III).
• Monitor, enforce, and model compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
• Develop and deliver educational in‑services through independent research and continuing study.
• Maintain current knowledge of surgical specialties, emerging technologies, and evolving surgical trends.
