Job summary

NexGen Contracting internships are available in the Steel Department for Summer 2027. Locations are TBD, and interns will gain hands-on experience across safety, estimating, scheduling, procurement, and project coordination within Gray Construction's ecosystem.

Interns will work with Project Management and Field Operations in office and on-site settings, supporting lifecycle activities and learning about concrete, steel, and millwright work.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree related to construction/science/engineering.
• Strong organizational and communication abilities.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Observe and assist with safety efforts, including safety docs and meetings.
• Support review/organization of job cost information and distribution of estimates.
• Assist with quantity takeoffs and help prepare estimates, budgets, and proposals.
• Contribute to scheduling by updating timelines and understanding sequencing.
• Help monitor progress with data collection and basic production tracking.
• Assist with cost tracking and administrative tasks, like reports and file organization.
• Support procurement by tracking materials, orders, and inventory.
• Learn change order processes, logging and organizing requests.
• Coordinate with general contractors/owners under supervision.
• Prepare field reports tracking labor, productivity, material usage, and safety observations.
• Follow company policies and industry standards for compliance and quality.
• MUST have reliable transportation.
