Job summary

AEP in Dale, IN is seeking skilled Station Electricians to perform maintenance, installation, and testing of electrical transmission and distribution facilities. The role involves climbing structures, operating specialized equipment, and working with energized systems under supervision.

Expect travel >50% and overtime; must have CDL and meet physical demands. Starting pay ranges by level, with comprehensive benefits and opportunities for training and advancement.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in electrical/mechanical/industrial maintenance technology or equivalent education and/or experience.
• Equivalent education and experience is limited to military training and work experience of technical/technician nature (such as aviation and nuclear instrumentation technician).
• Recent experience (within last 6 months) as a Station Electrician or equivalent job title with another utility or contractor.

Responsibilities

• Work on energized equipment up to 260 volts; after six months, assist with higher voltages under supervision.
• Select prints/drawings and understand basics of each.
• Use test equipment such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, ammeters, insulation megger.
• Disassemble/repair station transformers, circuit breakers, portable substations and rotating machinery.
• Install/maintain station batteries; replace nitrogen bottles and air filters.
• Install conduit, pipe, cable and wire; dig trenches; move equipment; set up safety signs.

Education

Associate degree in electrical/mechanical/industrial maintenance technology

Military training or equivalent technical experience

Recent experience as Station Electrician or equivalent in utilities/contractor
