Job summary

AEP Service Corporation is seeking a Station Electrician C-A to perform a wide range of duties on energized and de-energized generation, transmission and distribution facilities. The role includes wiring, testing, maintenance, inspections, and coordination during emergencies, with progression to higher voltage work under supervision.

Candidates will operate test gear, install equipment, maintain batteries, and support safety and reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

• Work on energized equipment up to 260 volts. After six months, assist with voltages above 750 volts under supervision.
• Use voltmeters, ohmmeters, ammeters, insulation megger and other test equipment for station work.
• Disassemble/assemble, inspect, maintain and repair transformers, circuit breakers, portable substations, rotating machinery, network protectors and related gear.
• Install/maintain station batteries; replace nitrogen bottles and air filters.
• Install conduit, pipe, cable and wire; pass tools with hand lines; dig/backfill trenches; uncrate equipment; install/remove portable substation fences and safety signs.
• Perform visual inspections, check gauges, run start/stop tests on emergency generators and pumps; report abnormalities.
• Replace lamps, switches, outlets; service signal and communication systems.
• Assist in station switching, ensure clearances, de-energized tests, and place grounds as directed.
• Maintain knowledge of rescue procedures and operate related equipment; keep records and submit reports; participate in safety training.
