Job summary

AEP Service Corporation is seeking candidates for two positions stationed in McCamey or Ft. Stockton. Successful applicants must reside within the service territory and be prepared to perform a range of electrical maintenance and testing duties on energized and de-energized facilities.

The role involves following safety protocols, using various tools, and assisting in the installation, inspection, and repair of station equipment. Training and supervision levels vary by task and certification.

Qualifications

• Must live within the service territory of either McCamey or Ft. Stockton.

Responsibilities

• Work on energized equipment up to 260 volts. After six months, assist with higher voltages up to 750 volts under supervision.
• Select proper prints and drawings for various work.
• Use test equipment such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, ammeters, insulation meggers.
• Assist in disassembling, maintaining, and repairing station transformers, circuit breakers, and rotating machinery.
• Assist in installing conduit, pipes, cables, wires; dig trenches; install portable substations; paint and climb structures.
• Inspect equipment, read gauges, and perform start-run-stop tests on emergency generators and pumps.
• Replace lamps and switches; support signal and communication systems.
• Assist in oil testing and transformer testing procedures.
