Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) in Michigan is seeking Station Electricians (C/B/A) to perform maintenance, testing, and repair of energized/de-energized electrical systems. You will read prints, use voltmeters and gauges, and assist with transformers, breakers, and substations. Travel and overtime are required; CDL is mandatory.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent education/experience for C level.
• Two-year associate degree or equivalent for B level; CDL required.
• 24 months of related work experience for A/B progression.
• Valid Class A CDL required for B/A levels.
• Willingness to overtime and travel; reside within driving distance of Niles, MI.

Responsibilities

• Work on energized equipment up to 260 volts; assist with higher voltages under supervision.
• Read prints/drawings; use test equipment like voltmeters and ammeters.
• Disassemble/assemble, inspect, maintain, and repair station equipment and transformers.
• Install conduit, cable, pass tools, trench, and handle materials; maintain safety signs.
• Perform inspections, test start-run-stop on generators and pumps; report abnormalities.

Education

Associate degree in electrical/mechanical/industrial maintenance technology or equivalent education/experience

Two-year associate degree electrical/mechanical/industrial maintenance technology or equivalent education/experience

24 months experience as Station Electrician B or equivalent

Valid Class A CDL

Ability to plan work and instruct others
